Police constable Drake is sipping his usual dram of whisky after his late shift and tells his wife about the day.
“Today we stopped Mr. Merry from Beer in Devon. We asked him to show us his papers. As he seemed to be drunk, we breathalyzed him and then told him to get out of his car. Then we left his car where it was and escorted him on foot to the police station. There we called a doctor who took a blood sample. Finally we put him in our detention cell to sober up.”
Two days later Mr Merry tells his wife:”The day before yesterday I was stopped …”
